George Clooney Stung By 'Leatherheads' Flop

leatherheadsGeorge Clooney is shocked - SHOCKED! - and hurt by the failure of 'Leatherheads'. The football movie - which was ridiculously released at the start of baseball season - grossed only $36 million which is $22 million short of its $58 million budget.

Clooney tells Rolling Stone, "It bombed and when I say bombed - it bombed. Someone said, 'How does that feel?' and it stings a little bit."

'Iron Man' Is a New High for Robert Downey Jr.

downeySince Robert Downey Jr. kicked drugs he is now proving that he's one of the greatest actors of his generation. Donning the metal suit, his blockbuster hit 'Iron Man' hauled in $100.7 million over opening weekend. The film also scored overseas with $96.7 million in 57 countries since it opened last Wednesday, putting its worldwide total at $201 million. Downey just rocks as Tony Stark and casting him was a brilliant idea.

Tom Cruise's Valkyrie an Impossible Box Office Mission?

TomWith last fall's box-office flop "Lions for Lambs" hanging over his head, the buzz is that Tom Cruise's $100 million film 'Valkyrie' is looking to be slaughtered at the box office as well.

In the film he plays Col. Claus von Stauffenberg, a real-life Wehrmacht officer who plotted to kill Adolf Hitler. But as Roger Friedman pointed out, the real problem is that Cruise plays him with an eye patch, a withered limb and "a California accent reminiscent of Jerry Maguire." Oh, snap!

Paul Verhoeven's first film is a guilty-pleasure cult classic, the second was a reviled piled of dog poo, but there's hope that the third installment will hopefully recapture the fun and cheeseballness of the original. Let's Go Crack a Planet!

daniel day lewisPreliminary ratings for last night's 80th annual Academy Awards telecast indicate they were the least-watched ceremony ever - even 14% lower than the previous lowest year, according to Nielsen Media Research. "No Country for Old Men" won best picture and best director, British actor Daniel Day-Lewis won Best Actor, but he was about the only name you might recognize from among the winners.

Leo DiCaprio to Produce Anime Movie

leonardo dicaprio photo Leonardo DiCaprio is set to produce a live-action version of anime classic 'Akira', it’s been reported.

The ground making Japanese movie was released in 1988 and co-written and directed by Katsuhiro Otomo.

The movie, set in 2019, is set in Tokyo following a nuclear war and focuses on a biker who gains super powers after undergoing experiments.

Troubled Owen Wilson Returns to Work

The actor, who is 39, will start filming with Jennifer Aniston next month for the comedy ‘Marley & Me’, which is about a naughty dog.

Wilson’s cameo role for this summer’s ‘Tropic Thunder’ movie was taken over by Matthew McConaughey, following Wilson’s reported attempt to take his own life last August.

Depp, Law & Farrell to Replace Ledger in His Final Movie

heath ledger photo Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell will replace Heath Ledger in his final movie.

Ledger had started filming for ‘The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus’ when he was found dead last month.

It was not known whether the $30 million movie, which secured its budget due to Ledger’s involvement, would have to be scrapped following the actor’s death.

The 15-year-old star came under fire for a scene from the movie in which both her and her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, are shown in the back of a Range Rover and neither of them wear a seatbelt.

Hannah Montana Movie Tops Box Office

miley cyrus photo Teen phenomenon Miley Cyrus has topped the North American box office with the release of the 3D movie of her recent tour.

'Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds' combines footage of 15-year-old Cyrus backstage at her show and on-stage as the Disney pop princess.

The movie topped the box office chart despite being shown in just 683 theaters compared with the 2,436 theaters the second place movie ‘The Eye’ was shown in.
