Avatar star Zoe Saldana has been open about the competition between A-list actresses for the top roles in Hollywood and said it has never been fiercer.
The 31-year-old actress says good roles for women are so rare that leading ladies are willing to do almost anything to beat their rivals. “It is hard to find good roles – especially for women,” says Zoe. “Whenever you have a good script you have all these actresses coming out wanting to kill each other for the part. It’s very competitive.”
Zoe has also recently confessed she almost had a mental breakdown after appearing in Avatar. “The year after Avatar was just emotionally overwhelming. I was traveling all over the world, waking up in different time zones,” she said. “Your body gets exhausted and by the end of the year I just collapsed. I was sitting in my hotel room and I couldn’t stop crying. I couldn’t stay awake. I must have slept for an entire month.”
