19-year-old singer/actress Selena Gomez is going to be the new host of the MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs), which will take place in Belfast, Ireland, on November 6.
Throughout the event, the star will be connected with fans all over the world via tweeter, and she will be offering commentary and sharing behind-the-scenes secrets via the official website.
“I’m so excited to be the host of the 2011 MTV EMAs — it’s a dream come true. This is such a huge event that always recognizes the biggest stars in music from across the globe, so it’s a real honour to be MC at this year’s show,” she said.
As has previously been announced, Lady GaGa — who earned five awards at last year’s event — leads the nominations with six and is up for Best Female, Best Live Act, Best Pop Act, as well as the Biggest Fans accolade for her dedicated troupe of “little monsters” and both Best Song and Best Video for Born This Way.
Closely following her in the nominations is Katy Perry — who will battle it out against GaGa in the Best Female, Best Pop, Best Female and Best Song categories for Firework — and Bruno Mars with four nods apiece. Adele — the top-selling artist of the year to date — Selena’s boyfriend Justin Bieber and rockers Thirty Seconds to Mars are up for three awards each.
The 2011 MTV EMAs will be held at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast on November 6 and will air live on MTV from 9pm.
