According to reports, Lost star Evangeline Lilly is set to star in Peter Jackson‘s adaptation of The Hobbit. And the Canadian beauty fears the Middle Earth’s fans might not like her.
The actress is playing a brand new character in Lord of the Rings prequel, and she thinks Tolkien fanatics won’t see her as the best choice for the role.
“I am very concerned that people will watch, and I’ll be the black mark on the film,” said Evangeline. “I know how adamant the purists are and I’m one of them! That said, upon reading The Hobbit again, as an adult, I can see why additional characters were needed to round out the story as an adaptation — especially female characters!”
“The Hobbit didn’t include female characters at all. What they have done is all in perfect keeping with J.R.R. Tolkien‘s world, while adding a third dimension to an otherwise very two-dimensional story.”
