According to certain reports, 17-year-old actress Selena Gomez will replace Australian star Nicole Kidman in the upcoming comedy movie Monte Carlo based on the book Headhunters by Jules Bass. The producers took this decision because they wanted to give the film a more youthful spin. Leighton Meester from Gossip Girl is also reportedly in talks to join the cast.
Kidman, 42, was previously set to star in the film, which originally followed the novel’s plot more closely and sent four New Jersey women to Monaco, where they posed as heiresses.
But according to Variety, producers have updated the script to instead focus on a group of college and high school girls traveling from Paris, France. Production begins in May.
