It looks like Will Smith will reprise his role as the drunken-turned-revived superhero John Hancock in Hancock 2. While plot details are being kept undisclosed for now, the sequel is expected to dive deeper into the world of the immortal superheroes, played by Smith and Charlize Theron in the first movie.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Shiled writers Adam Fierro and Glen Marzara will pen the script, marking the feature film writing debut for both, while Hancock helmer Peter Berg will once again take on directing duties.
The first film, which was originally titled Tonight He Comes, took more than 12 years to make it to the big screen. However, it's expected the sequel will be produced with much more urgency.
But while Smith will come back for his role, will his ex-costar Charlize Theron join him? In a previous interview with MTV News, the actress said she'd come back if everyone else did. "With those guys? If everybody's on board? Yeah!" she said. "Riding the Will Smith train is a really nice train to ride."
