Beyonce will accept the award at the publication’s annual Women In Music Event in New York on October 2. She's being honored for all her accomplishments, including a sell-out world tour, chart-topping album ‘I Am… Sasha Fierce’ and her humanitarian efforts, which include teaming up with General Mills Hamburger Helper and Feeding America, to deliver 3.5 million meals to local food banks and giving 2,500 concert tickets to disadvantaged families.
Bill Werde, Billboard's Editorial Director, said: "Beyonce is multi-platinum artist and a multi-talented woman who clearly embodies the qualities of excellence and achievement that the Billboard Woman of the Year Award was created to honor.
"She has not only influenced pop culture with her hit songs and signature dance moves, but has inspired women everywhere with her unique style, business savvy and dedication to charitable causes."
The award is usually given to an artist who has inspired the music business with all their success, leadership skills, and ideas. Ciara and country singer Reba McIntyre have previously been named Woman of the Year.
