A 53-year-old man who told police he is secretly engaged to marry 16-year-old Miley Cyrus has been charged with attempting to stalk the teenage Hannah Montana star.
Mark McLeod was arrested a month ago for attempting to reach the actress on the set of her latest Disney film, The Last Song, on Tybee Island, near Savannah, Georgia.
Tybee Island Police Chief Jim Price told local reporters that McLeod, of Appling, Georgia, was arrested after Walt Disney Pictures security officers reported he was on beachside movie set despite a police warning in June to stay away.
"He was asking for Miley and going up and knocking on some doors" of beach homes near the set, Price said. "The security guards recognized him. In fact, he went up to the security guards and asked them, 'Is Miley around?'"
McLeod was also arrested in June on charges of disorderly conduct and obstruction. Police said he had tried to breach a security perimeter around the movie set. At the time of that arrest, he told police he and Cyrus "were supposed to be together, and we couldn't stop it." He claimed he met her 18 months ago and sent her diamond rings and other gifts.
In March this year, the New York Daily news shot video of McLeod waiting at a book-signing appearance by Cyrus in Manhattan when he said he was her No. 1 fan.
