Madonna has visited some of the eight workers who were injured in an accident in which two more were killed while assembling a music stage for the singer in the French port of Marseilles.
Before the accident, Madonna had been slated to perform the latest show in her Sticky & Sweet tour at the venue on Sunday night. However, the show was canceled following the fatal accident. The roof of the stage collapsed while it was being built and crashed down on the workers.
Madonna also paid tribute to the two men at a performance in Undine, Italy, on Thursday night. "When they were building my show in Marseille, where we're going next... we don't know why, but one of the cranes fell... Two men lost their lives, it was a great tragedy to me," she said, before adding she was "so, so devastated" by the loss.
"Let's all just take a moment to say a prayer for [them]," she continued on Thursday. "Our hearts go out to their families and loved ones... We are so blessed and lucky to be alive."
