Tom Cruise might have another "mission impossible". A Paramount representative has confirmed to Access Hollywood that a fourth film in the franchise was in the planning stages.
According to TV Guide, Tom is on board as producer, and has invited J.J. Abrams on to his team. Abrams was actually the director of 2006’s MI 3, but there’s no word yet on whether he will be directing this one as well.
"I am incredibly honored that Tom has invited me back as a producer. Tom and I have come up with a really cool idea we are pursuing," Abrams, fresh off directing Star Trek, told the magazine. "I would work with him again in an instant," he added. "I hope I get the shot. I could not have had a better time working with him."
The third film, released in 2006, earned over $134 million domestically and almost $400 million worldwide.
