Ryan Reynolds who made his debut as sword-wielding mercenary Wade WilsonDeadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, has been gushing about the planned spin-off Deadpool movie, one of the several big screen projects floating around in the X-Men universe. Currently seated alongside Wolverine 2, X-Men: First Class and X-Men Origins: Magneto, Deadpool will be spinning out of this summer's Wolverine film.
"I love it, because I get to be involved," Ryan said of developing the movie. "I'm such a huge fan of the character." In fact, the actor said it's been his job to make sure the movie stays true to its comic book beginnings.
"I get to be the authentication police, in a weird way," he told MTV News, praising the studio for wanting to make an "authentic" Deadpool movie. "They want to make it as close to the source material as possible."
And that means including many of the comic book's details: "He's going to be the Merc with the Mouth, [it will have] all those answers that everyone wants," Ryan said. "He's going to have the scarred-up face, he's going to be in the suit and, it's going to be incredible."
While there's no director or script in place for the project yet, Reynolds is clearly keen to get things rolling. "Right now, it's just a question of trying to figure out what is the spine of the story," he said. "Who is the villain? What do Wade and/or Deadpool want?"
