Former The Mummy beauty Rachel Weisz has been tapped to star in an ancient Egyptian epic entitled Agora. According to Variety, the 37-year-old actress is set to play Hypatia, the fourth century AD philosopher and teacher who lived in Alexandria during the Roman Empire, struggling to save the collected wisdom of the ancient world.
Married only to her unquenchable intellect and passion for mathematics and astronomy, she is loved by two men: her slave, Davus (Max Minghella), and her student, Orestes (Oscar Isaac).
The adventure drama movie picks up the destruction of the library of Alexandria. The film will also see Ashraf Barhom, Michael Lonsdale, Rupert Evans and Homayoun Ershadi as the film's cast.
