There's a new Backstreet Boy in town: Singer Howie Dorough and his wife Leigh Boniello, a real-estate broker, became parents for the first time on Wednesday, their rep confirmed to People.
James Hoke Dorough, who wasn’t due until June, was born at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6th in LA, weighing in at 4.5 lbs. and measuring 16.25 inches. According to the singer's rep, the baby is healthy and doing great.
Their son's middle name is a tribute to Howie's late father Hoke, who died in June 2008 after a battle with brain and lung cancer.
Dorough and Boniello were engaged on August 2007, and they got married four months later. The new parents, both 35, announced the pregnancy in January. Although they chose a delivery surprise, Howie’s family was open about their wish for a boy, since there wasn’t a male to carry on the family name. “I think everybody would love a boy,” Howie said at the time. “We’re just hoping for a healthy baby.”
"I know she's going to be a great mother," Dorough added. "If she can take care of me, the biggest baby in the entire world, I think she's going to be okay with the little one coming along."
And Leigh said: "I think he's going to be more hands-on than anyone expects. He's someone who will get up in the night and change diapers. He's such a partner of mine."
Well then, CONGRATS to the happy parents!
