Hugh Jackman is obviously fond of comic books and now he’s moving from mutants to ghosts.
Fresh off his solo smash, despite being panned by many critics, the 40-year-old Sexiest Man Alive is set to star in Ghostopolis, an upcoming all-ages big-screen adaptation of Doug TenNapel’s graphic novel. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project is being set up at Disney, with Jackman producing through his company, Seed Productions.
The story reportedly centers on a man working for the government’s Supernatural Immigration Task Force, whose job it is to send ghosts who have escaped into our world back to Ghostopolis. Things get tricky when a living boy is accidentally sent to the spirit world, forcing Hugh's character to team up with a female ghost (and former girlfriend) in order to bring him back to the living.
A director has not yet been selected for the project. TenNapel has spent four years developing the book, and started pitching the idea to Hollywood studios exactly a year ago.
