The Oscar-winning star of Moonstruck, Cher, is being lined up to join Christina Aguilera in the movie musical Burlesque, a rep for Screen Gems confirmed to Access Hollywood. According to Entertainment Weekly, the 63-year-old singer and actress is in talks to play the owner of a Los Angeles burlesque club in the film musical.
As previously said, Christina Aguilera will make her film debut in the lead role, a small-town girl who works at the burlesque and begins to follow her dreams. It is believed that Cher is in talks to play a mentor to Christina's character.
The film will be directed by Steve Antin, the brother of Pussycat Dolls founder Robin Antin, with a script by Erin Brockovich scribe Susannah Grant.
The project would mark Cher’s return to the big screen after a six year absence from the silver screen.
