According to the Associated Press, Sex and the City actress Sarah Jessica Parker and her husband Matthew Broderick are expecting twin daughters via a surrogate mother, their representatives said on Tuesday. Both Parker, 44, and Broderick, 47, are "overjoyed," publicists reported.
They have been married since 1997 and these would be the second and third children for the couple as they already have a son, James Wilkie, 6.
Parker and Broderick have long wanted to add to their family but had no luck, an unidentified friend was quoted as telling Entertainment Weekly magazine. They turned to a surrogate last year, the magazine said. Details about the surrogate or her pregnancy were unavailable.
Parker is expected to begin shooting a sequel later this year to the hit movie version of Sex and the City along with fellow stars Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall and Kristin Davis. Sex and The City 2 is slated for release in May 2010.
