Unlike the cold-blooded neck biters, the werewolves from Twilight sequel New Moon are smokin’ hot and ready to roar! They’re so hot that their temperature runs a steady 108 degrees, as anyone who has read Stephenie Meyer's series of gothic romances knows. That gives them a great excuse to appear shirtless and tattooed, and somewhat hairless…
Summit Entertainment and USA Today have released the first public photo of “The Wolf Pack” that will be featured in the upcoming Twilight sequel. Four actors – Alex Meraz (Paul), 24, Chaske Spencer (Sam Uley), 34, Bronson Pelletier (Jared), 23, and Kiowa Gordon (Embry), 19 – will join Taylor Lautner, 17, as he returns as Jacob Black for the sequel. The plotline finds Jacob growing closer to a distraught Bella ( Kristen Stewart) after her vampire beau, Edward ( Robert Pattinson), runs off.
All of the new cast members are of Native American or First Nations descent, representing the Lakota (Sioux), Cree-Metis, Purepecha (Tarasco), Hualapai, and Cree nations. According to USA Today, New Moon director Chris Weitz insisted on the actors’ Native American ancestry in order to stick closer to Stephenie Meyer’s books. “They had to have papers that proved their heritage,” Weitz said.
"And they had to be in good physical shape" and possess the ability to work half-naked in the chilly Vancouver, B.C., area, where the film has been shooting for several weeks. "It's not pleasant for the actors," said director Weitz, "but they have all been good-natured. They show up on location in drenching, cold rain, and I say, 'OK, off with the robes.' "
New Moon is due in theaters on November 20, 2009.
