It's official: Julianne Hough is breaking up with Dancing with the Stars.
She and real-life boyfriend country singer Chuck Wicks were eliminated from the ABC competition Tuesday night and Hough confirmed that she will not be back for season 9. "I'm not doing next season ... I'm gonna take one off," she said in an interview with Access Hollywood.
Hough, 20, has won the competition in the past, but she's also a country music star and will likely use the time off to focus on her singing career.
She had planned to skip season 8 until producers booked Wicks, 29, to join the show. "We definitely went further than anticipated. I think he could have made it a little bit further," she said. "But you know what? It’s the name of the game and it’s about fan base and hopefully our country fans will follow us into music."
Hough, who won best new artist at this years Academy of Country Music Awards, will kick off a tour in Hidalgo, Texas on May 9 and will travel through the summer.
