It seems this is the love season for tennis players Andy Roddick and Roger Federer.
Just a few days ago tennis champ Federer announced on his official website that he tied the knot with his girlfriend Miroslava "Mirka" Vavrinec over the Easter weekend. And now, it seems Andy Roddick wants to continue the trend by marrying his Sports Illustrated model girlfriend Brooklyn Decker this weekend.
World number two Swiss tennis player wed his longtime girlfriend in an intimate ceremony in his home town of Basel, Switzerland on Saturday. "Surrounded by a small group of close friends and family, Mirka and I got married. It was a beautiful spring day and an incredibly joyous occasion," the 13-time Grand Slam winner wrote on his blog.
This comes a month after the couple announced they are expecting their first child this summer. Their relationship is said to be one of the most enduring in the temptation-filled world of competitive sport. In an interview, Federer, 27, once said of Mirka: 'As long as I wake up in the morning and she is next to me, that's all that matters.'
And just a few days after this happy event took place, according to Usmagazine.com, we have another tennis star, Andy Roddick, 26, who is planning to wed his model-love, Brooklyn Decker, 21, this Saturday at the Westwood Country Club in Austin, Texas, Roddick's hometown. The nuptials will be "very small. Just friends and family. Not a big Hollywood crowd as they're not like that," reported a source close to them.
The couple have been dating since 2007 when Roddick, 26, spotted Decker's photo in the pages of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue and asked his agent to set up a meeting through her agent. He proposed to Decker in March 2008, but said they weren't in any rush to walk down the aisle. "With their hectic travel schedules, Andy and Brooklyn plan to enjoy their engagement," said a statement posted on their Web site. Well, it seems they’ve enjoyed it long enough.
According to Deadspin, Elton John is among the expected guests, along with Roddick's Davis Cup teammates James Blake and Mardy Fish.
