Actor Robin Williams, 57, has canceled several performances in Florida of his critically acclaimed one-man comedy show, "Weapons of Self-Destruction," after recently experiencing shortness of breath, according to a statement released by his representative. Williams has been on the Broadway-bound 80-city tour since September and has played shows in 11 cities over the past three weeks.
He will undergo heart surgery after he was admitted Monday to a South Florida hospital for testing. The statement from Williams' publicist, Diane Rosen, said the actor will have "to undergo surgery for an aortic valve replacement" and will postpone his comedy tour until the fall, the Associated Press reported. But William’s representative did not disclose any further information as where or when his surgery will occur.
According to CNN, the surgery is similar to the procedure former first lady, Barbara Bush, underwent Wednesday. Bush's surgeon, Dr. Gerald Lawrie, described it as "a very routine procedure" from the doctors' perspective. Barbara Bush, 83, was recovering well from her aortic valve surgery this week, her doctors said.
In the statement released by this reps, the actor also said that he is “so touched by everyone's support and well wishes". "This tour has been amazing fun and I can't wait to get back out on the road after a little tune-up," he assured his fans.
We hope you get well soon, Mr Williams!
