Tom Cruise has had a run of bad luck with his film career lately despite stretching himself as an actor by making a daring Nazi hero flick "Valkyrie" and playing a fat guy in the comedy "Tropic Thunder." But it's been announced that the Cruiser has scored a nice gig: co-starring with box office megastar Denzel Washington in a new Bourne-like action flick.
He'll be joining Denzel in “The Matarese Circle,” director David Cronenberg’s adaptation of the Robert Ludlum spy vs spy thriller.
Cruise and Washington will play rivals who spend 20 years trying to kill each other, only to partner up and battle a shadow global group called the Matarese, who are trying to take over the world.
Denzel will play the American spy Brandon Scofield while Cruise takes the role of a Russian, Vasili Taleniekov.
Production is expected to begin later this year with the film being released in 2010.
