Lindsay Lohan wants to be an actress not a celebrity. The mean girl says she's just a hard working, misunderstood actress who should be getting the good film roles currently going to other young actresses. Linds tells Interview magazine that she fears she isn't taken seriously by directors because of her celebrity ... and her party girl reputation, love affairs, lesbian affair, crazy family, car accidents, DUI bust, and rehab stints... but mostly her celebrity.
But the 22-year-old says she is just as deserving of consideration for acting roles as her peers. And it's not her fault that she's a media whore.
Linds tells Interview she is helpless to escape her own celebrity.
"It's so impossible for me to actually do that," she says. "When I was in Dubai, there was still press lined up around the hotel. So I find it close to impossible to actually do that."
"This is what I asked for, and in this day and age that's what actually goes on. But what hurts me the most is that I work just as hard as any other actress around my age, like Scarlett Johansson, but I just don't get the opportunities that they get because people are so distracted by the mess that I created in my life. But that doesn't mean it's going to last forever."
