Stepford Wife Katie Holmes is reportedly not a happy camper with her derailed career. She was actually doing better and landing good roles before she married Tom Cruise.
According to reports, when Tom began to date Katie almost 4 years ago, he allegedly told her that he had the power and influence to make her a big movie star, and would get her the dream roles she wanted. But when his own career imploded, it took hers down too.
Even as Tom struggles to regain his once powerful box office clout, Katie’s career is barely on life support. She did well in her critically acclaimed performances in a Broadway play a few months ago - doing the play was her idea - but otherwise, sources are telling Star Magazine that Tom didn't deliver on his promise.
Star is reporting this week that since she married Tom, the only film role she's had was the awful comedy Mad Money, and she did a cameo on “Eli Stone,” and did the Broadway gig. The report mentioned that Imdb doesn’t have her attached to any projects in the future.
Plus, she was not recast in the followup Batman movie, 'The Dark Knight.' Katie's role was taken over by Maggie Gyllenhaal.
“He basically told her he would manage her career and make her a big star,” says one insider. “He said that in five years, she’d be the No. 1 female box-office earner in the world. Tom really believed in Katie and that his connections would mold her into a superstar…
“Katie can’t understand how Tom could run a big movie studio like United Artists and not be able to steer her toward an Oscar-worthy film.”
There is still a glimmer of hope though for Mrs. Cruise. There's news today that she will play a part in the Kevin Kline, Paul Dano and John C. Reilly comedy 'The Extra Man' which begins filming next month in New York City.
