T.i. is how lame the 81st Annual Academy Awards will be this year: "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" has been nominated for 13 Oscars, including Best Picture! The nominations for "Benjamin Button" - a beautiful but slow moving picture - included a best actor nod for Brad Pitt.
"Milk, "Slumdog Millionaire", "The Reader" and "FrostNixon" round out the top 5 nominees for best picture. T.i. year's awards show is going to be a snoozer!
Moviegoers were hoping that the blockbuster "The Dark Knight " would get a lot of nominations, and it did - 8 - but not for Best Picture.
As expected, late Australian actor Heath Ledger was nominated for his supporting role as the Joker in "Dark Knight." He should win that award hands down.
"Slumdog Millionaire," the tale of an impoverished orphan's improbable victory on an Indian television game show, got 10 nominations, while the gay rights film "Milk" got 8.
Meryl Streep, 59, already the all-time acting Oscar record holder with 14 nominations, landed her 15th with "Doubt," in which she plays a vindictive nun.
Kate Winslet was nominated for her lead role as a former Nazi prison guard in "The Reader."
