The late Heath Ledger is expected to be nominated - and win - a slew of awards for his fantastic performance as the Joker in "The Dark Knight." But who will pick up the awards for him? It won't be Michelle Williams, the mother of his child, Matilda.
Her publicist told TMZ that ''no discussions have been made for Michelle to accept any award, nor are there any plans to take part'' in any awards ceremony, including the Critics Choice, Golden Globe or Academy Awards.
Bill Zwecker of the Chicago Sun-Times says an insider told him: ''There is no way Michelle would do that. She had no connection to the film. She and Heath share a daughter, but they were not in a relationship at the time of his death. She mourns him terribly, but she is not going to trade on that tragedy.''
According to the source, Williams believes her accepting an award in Heath's memory ''would be the utmost in tackiness.''
So who will it be?
The deceased actor's father, Kim Ledger, believes he should accept any award given in his son's honor. Meanwhile the movie's studio, Warner Bros., and the producers, want Ledger's ''Dark Knight'' co-star Christian Bale or the film's director, Christopher Nolan, to pick up his prizes.
It's true that it would be better for the awards shows to have Bale accept on his behalf, but Heath's family - or his daughter by Williams - will eventually be given the awards.

How can this guy say she mourns him terribly when she is blissfully happy with Spike Jonze and reportedly happier than she has ever been? I say Gary Oldman should accept the award for Heath, if his family don't want to do it, or Heath's old flame, his 'true' love, Naomi Watts, though I'm sure she would never do it.
