"T.i. was an accidental shooting by someone that plays with guns," said Ronald Richards, the lawyer of a woman who had been initially held as a suspect in the shooting of Scott Ruffalo, 39, the younger brother of actor Mark Ruffalo.
Scott died Monday night after his life support machine was switched off. Police have determined that he had accidentally shot himself in the head with a shotgun one week ago at his Beverly Hills apartment.
The woman, Shaha Mishaal Adham, who was a friend of Scott's, had gone to his house and when she found him dead, she made the mistake of "not staying at the scene of the shooting".
This had "caused an incredible chain reaction of stupidity and bad luck" that had led to her detainment, her lawyer added. Richards said that Adham would not face any charges.
Investigators are saying that his fatal injury was consistent with a self-inflicted wound.
Scott's family announced that a fund would be created in his honor, and said that his funeral service would be private.
"Mark Ruffalo and his family deeply appreciate the outpouring of prayers and support during this most difficult time of the passing of Scott Ruffalo, beloved son, brother and husband," they said in a statement.
