The late Heath Ledger has been nominated for a Golden Globe award posthumously for his role as the Joker in "The Dark Knight." He will win, and possibly win a Best Supporting Oscar statue as well. Otherwise, 'The Dark Knight,' the year's biggest hit, was snubbed in all other categories at the Globes.
"Heath was a friend of mine. He gave his all in that film. I think he will win in that category. He'll also get an Oscar," said Terrence Howard, about his co-star's nomination for "The Dark Knight."
“We thank the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for honoring Heath’s performance in ‘The Dark Knight,’ ” Ledger’s father, Kim Ledger, told People in a statement sent from his home in Ledger’s native Perth, Australia. “This nomination is deeply appreciated and is not lost on those of us who continue to love and miss him. We are so proud our boy’s work is being recognized in this way.”
Heath was found dead last January in a Soho loft of a drug overdose.
