RnB star Brandy is facing a second lawsuit for negligence and violation of statute over her 2006 car crash which killed another woman. Donald Lite is suing Brandy and the dead woman, Awatef Aboudihaj. Lite suffered injuries in the multi-car pileup on a California highway, and Aboudihaj died from her injuries.
In the suit filed last week in L.A. County Court, Lite says their speeding and failure to keep a safe distance, caused Brandy to rear-end Aboudihaj, which sent her car smashing into his.
Aboudihaj's family have already filed a $50 million civil action for wrongful death against the star.
The star was never charged criminally for causing the accident. Lite says he has suffered "serious and permanent injuries."
"[Brandy drove] at an excessive speed for conditions, failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to maintain a safe distance," the Lite lawsuit reads. "As a direct and proximate result of the negligence, carelessness and recklessness -- the plaintiff suffered serious and permanent injuries all of which have caused, and continue to cause pain, suffering and nervousness."
Lite's personal injury suit is seeking unspecified damages to cover his hospital costs, according to TMZ.com. The civil trial is set for April 2009.
