Paula Abdul is rightly freaked out by the suicide of a crazy fan and former Idol wannabe named Paula Goodspeed, 30, who was found dead in her car which was parked near Abdul’s home on Wednesday.
Now OK! magazine is reporting that Abdul, 45, who is said to be shocked and saddened by the tragedy, is wanting to leave her judge's chair on "American Idol" anyway and move on with new projects - even more so now that Idol has added a 4th judge, Kara DioGuardi.
Goodspeed had died of "suicide by overdose" according to a preliminary report from the cops. The woman was discovered in a car alongside prescription drugs, CDs, and pictures of Abdul.
Over the last three years, Abdul has reportedly received more than 100 letters and numerous phone calls and uninvited visits from Goodspeed, who's real name is Sandra.
Goodspeed changed her name legally to Paula about 16 years ago, but her family says it had nothing to do with Abdul and that the woman just liked the name. They also dispute reports that Goodspeed was a stalker.
But when Goodspeed appeared on Series 5 of 'Idol' where she lost in an early round cattle call after receiving poor reviews from Abdul, Simon Cowell, and Randy Jackson, she told the show's host, Ryan Seacrest, that she was a huge fan of Abdul and had created life-size paintings of the singer.
Later, she posted an entry on her MySpace page deploring the "haters" who made fun of her and especially Cowell who had mocked her attempt to be a singer with a mouthful of braces. He told her at the time: "I don't think any artist on earth could sing with that much metal in her mouth."
Abdul is currently filming “Paula Abdul’s RAH Cheerleading Bowl,” a cheer squad competition program that will air on New Year’s Day on MTV.
