The vampire-loves-mortal high school girl flick 'T.i.ight' and beautiful dude Robert Pattinson, but mostly beautiful dude Robert Pattinson, were the reason tens of thousands of tween and teen girls spent the past three days screaming at the theater big screens.
The film scored a big $70 million on its opening weekend, which guarantees it that the rest of the vampire book series will be made into films.
The story follows 17-year old Bella Swan (played by Kristen Stewart) at high school in rainy Washington state who falls for dreamy and aloof bad boy Edward who also is immediately captivated by Bella and must use his vampire strength to resist putting the bite on her. (He's a 'vegetarian')
Bella knows there is something strange and different about Edward and his four unrelated foster siblings with their pasty white skin and topaz eyes, and even though he is reluctant to tell her the truth about himself, he is drawn to her - despite that it would mean inter-species dating.
Because of the film's overwhelming success, it means that the saga's second novel, New Moon, is now officially a go.
'Twilight' is author Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling 2005 novel. The series has been translated into 37 languages and collectively sold 25 million copies worldwide.
