Mos Def is wanted by the Las Vegas Police Department for "felony robbery and malicious destruction of private property" after the rapper and actor allegedly attacked a paparazzo at a fashion event back in August.
Def, whose real name is Dante Terrell Smith, was attending the Men’s Apparel and Garment Industry Convention (MAGIC) event, when he crossed paths with photographer Volker Corell. The snapper says he didn't know who the hip hopper was and didn't know why Def snatched his camera and whipped it to the ground.
Corell also says he suffered a cut hand during the attack when Def had his unexpected Kanye West moment.
"I had no idea who the man was," 60-year-old photographer lied to told the Associated Press, after Def allegedly yanked the camera off his neck and destroyed it. "The last shot was his hands in front of the lens."
According to news reports, court documents indicate the repairs to the camera cost all of $178. (That sounds like an inexpensively crappy camera for a supposed paparazzo to be using!)
Vegas PD has issued an arrest warrant for the actor who is expected to turn himself in at the end of the week.
