'Gossip Girl' heartthrob Chace Crawford says he's terrified of being typecast and doesn't want to be thought of as just a hunk. His alter-ego on the show, Nate Archibald, relies on his good looks and money to get by, but Chase wants to be taken seriously as an actor.
He tells Vman magazine, "There are a lot of adverse effects of being a certain type, which I am. I wouldn't be in the business if I didn't feel I had what it takes to have longevity. Everyone has a certain castability, or quality, they're always going to have to fight."
And Crawford believes he has the key to success - he's going to try new things - if they'll let him. And if he succeeds, he'll be the "next big thing."
He adds: "I think the best remedy is to reinvent yourself. I'm not going to take the same type of role in the future."
