What do you call a 48-year-old woman who tapes heroin to her body to get through airport security? Mackenzie Phillips! The troubled actress who starred on "One Day at a Time" back in the day was arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance.
LAX airport police responded to Terminal 4, where Phillips was screened by surly TSA agents looking for illegal nail clippers, baby formula, eye drops stuff and was found to be in possession of 4 baggies and balloons of heroin and cocaine.
She was arrested on the felony charge of possession of a controlled substance and
transported to the airport police station for further investigation.
Phillips has had a long history of drug abuse and has been in and out of rehabs several times. She did manage to clean up about ten years ago and do some acting gigs but it appears the American Graffiti star has fallen back into old habits.
Hell's bells, had Mac put her junk in the TSA regulation "one quart-sized, clear, plastic, zip-top bag" and laid it on the conveyor belt in the screening bin next to her carry-on bag, the TSA probably wouldn't have spotted it.
Let's hope she gets some help during her next trip to rehab - which should start sometime this weekend...
