David Duchovny, who plays a sex-obsessed character on the Showtime series "Californication," apparently has real life experience to draw on - he has just entered a rehabilitation facility for sex addiction.
In a statement released Thursday by his lawyer, Stanton Stein, the actor said he did so voluntarily, adding: "I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family."
The actor, 48, appeared in "The X Files: I Want to Believe" earlier this summer - which bombed badly.
He and actress Tea Leoni have been married since 1997 and have two kids. Duchovny's show will begin its second season on Sept. 28.

the man is ill. This is no fun and I hate to see the press and other tearing him apart for this. I think it's great he took the first step. Good for him.
