Here's some good news out of Hollywood for a change: actress Christina Applegate has been completely cleared of the BIG C: Cancer! The 'Samantha Who?' star paid a steep price for it after deciding to undergo a double mastectomy but the decision saved her life.
"I'm clear," Applegate, 36, says. "Absolutely 100 percent clear and clean. It did not spread. They got everything out, so I'm definitely not going to die from breast cancer."
The actress admits it was a battle with her emotions. "Sometimes I cry," she said. "Sometimes I scream, and I get really angry and I get really into wallowing in self-pity sometimes, and I think it's all part of healing."
Applegate chose to have both her breasts removed — even though an early form of cancer was only found in one — because she tested positive for the breast cancer gene, BRCA1. Her mother had breast cancer which is why Applegate began having mammograms at the young age of 30.
"I just wanted to kind of be rid of this whole thing for me. This was the choice that I made, and it was a tough one."
