Salma Hayek and her billionaire French lover Francois-Henri Pinault have called off their engagement. So she'll probably get to keep the ring and the kid that he fathered last year. Ka-Ching!
Hayek, 41, and Pinault, 46, announced their plans to wed in March 2007, and their daughter, Valentina Paloma Pinault, was born in June 2007. The couple was expected to marry in a $3.5 million wedding next spring.
There's no clue from their people as to the reason for the change of heart. Also, they didn't actually announced that they've split up - only that they've canceled their engagement - and presumably, the lavish wedding.
"We are sad to announce the engagement of Salma Hayek and Francois-Henri Pinault has been canceled," publicist Cari Ross said in a statement. "There will be no further comment."
Pinault is the chief executive officer of the luxury goods company PPR SA, which owns high-end labels such as Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga and Puma.
In April, the gorgeous 'Frida' actress told Glamour magazine that she felt "lucky to have found a man who is so smart and successful in his own right. He understands I was happy and had a great life before I met him."
