Mike Myers should stick to Austin Powers and Shrek - his Borat-inspired comedy film has been universally panned and reviled by critics as being un-funny garbage that goes for gross-out more than anything else. Myers spent 5 years trying to get this made?
It's at least a top contender for worst film of the year and should be a HUGE embarrassment to the other stars who agreed to appear in it: Jessica Alba, Justin Timberlake, Deepak Chopra, Romany Malco, Kayne West, Megan Good, Verne Troyer, and Ben Kingsley.
The synopsis is bad to begin with: Guru Pitka (Mike Myers) wants to break into the self-help business and become "the next Deepak Chopra". So he accepts a hockey owner's (Jessica Alba) offer to guide her star player (Romany Malco) back to his wife (Meagan Good), who's run off with rival goalie Jacque "Le Coq" Grande (Justin Timerberlake).
Verne "Mini-Me" Troyer plays Coach Cherkov, Ben Kingsley appears as Guru Tugginmypudha and Deepak Chopra plays himself. The movie centers on "physical comedy" namely - toilet jokes, defecation, passing gas, penis jokes, and elephant sex.
Aintitcool.com's review sums it all up with it's review: "Unfuckingbelievably unspeakably awful. The Love Guru is astonishingly rancid."
Incredibly, the film scored 11 out of 100 on the tomatometer at rottentomatoes.com - which is a surprise it scored that high! You mean someone actually liked this mess?
