The British must have dusted off some long-forgotten, archaic law and finally found a reason to send Pete Doherty off to jail for a few weeks. The country's celebrity catch-and-release program has run out of excuses for letting the often-arrested Babyshambles frontman walk away this time. He's going away for 14 weeks for violating probation.
According to a report on Billboard.com: Adrian Hunter, Doherty's manager, was quoted as saying Doherty was imprisoned for "numerous reasons" including his tardiness at probation hearings. Doherty has been in and out of court in recent months stemming from his well-publicized battle with drug abuse.
Doherty, 29, was sentenced last year to 14 months in jail on drug charges, but it was suspended after he promised to clean up his act.
Sky News said the court lost patience with Doherty's efforts to do so and sentenced him to 14 weeks in prison Tuesday. It's not yet known how the rocker broke the conditions of his bail. However, he has continued to use drugs all this time.
