It's not officially a scandal yet but it's juust about there. The nanny who is being sued by Rob Lowe for blackmail is now counter-attacking and filed a lawsuit Monday claiming that the West Wing actor sexually harassed her and exposed himself to her on several occasions during her 7-year employment with his family.
In 18 pages of court documents, Jessica Gibson, 24, claims the actor exposed himself, fondled her, placed his hand down her pants and grabbed her butt. She also alleges the actor's wife would wander around the house naked and make vulgar comments about their sex life.
Gibson claims she kept working for the Lowes because she needed the work. “I love the children, I needed the job, and I always thought it would get better — and I was scared,” Gibson told The Today Show’s Meredith Vieira Tuesday morning, the day after she filed the countersuit against the actor and his makeup artist wife, Sheryl Berkoff.
Gibson, who appeared on the Today Show with her celebrity lawyer Gloria Allred, says the Lowes paid her $18 an hour. She's suing them for sexual assault and battery, sexual harassment, retaliation, unpaid off-the-clock work, overtime wages and unpaid meal periods. She's asking for damages in excess of $50,000.
She also said that she never tried to extort money from the Lowes, as Rob alleged in his preemptive blackmail lawsuit against her.
Lowe claims in his suit that Gibson subsequently demanded $1.5 million to keep quiet about alleged abuse. Lowe also claims Gibson frequently used their homes in Santa Barbara and London for sexual liaisons and frequently took drugs while looking after the children.
Allred has asked to take depositions from the couple on May 19 and 20. “We are looking forward to sitting across the table from him,” she told MSNBC. “Jessica will be there, and I’ll be there eyeballing him.”
