"In England, people don't like me," golddigger Heather Mills recently said. Well, music fans on this side of the pond don't like the legendary Beatle's ex-wife either, but that isn't going to stop her from moving over here. "But I'm going to move to America, Los Angeles, hopefully . . . I'll be better off in the States."
Oh really??
Mills was at the Miss USA Pageant over the weekend and was loudly booed at by audience members when she was introduced as a judge for the show at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Vegas.
They weren't the only ones who showed their displeasure with her. She angered producers (and why did they hire her in the first place?) when she refused to sign a contract stating the show could be rebroadcast.
"She flat out refused because of one line," said an insider. "They went back and forth rewriting and finally threatened to pull her from it altogether. She still wouldn't sign it because she wants to get paid if they resell the footage. Her ego is enormous, and it's getting bigger by the minute."
The independent contractors who booked Mills promised they'd never work with the gold-digging former nudie model again, according to our insider.
"She believed that if the show got high ratings, it would be because of her," said our source. "She treated this like she was starring in a big-budget movie."
Mills even hunted down pageant owner Donald Trump at a dinner at Koi right before the show, hoping to "butter him up" and get his approval to be on air. "Heather was flirting with him, and she was really working it," said our source. "She was unprofessional, but he said, 'Let her [go] on anyway.' "
Mills, one of 10 judges, eventually got her way when they adjusted the contract to suit her. She seemed unfazed by the audience's reaction to her during the live TV event and remarked that she was moving to the U.S. with her 4-year-old daughter, Beatrice.
