Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz have a reason for announcing their engagement last week: the couple have a baby on the way, says a report in OK! magazine.
A friend of Simpson’s confirmed that Ashlee is pregnant and that the baby is due in October. She and Pete are said to be putting together a quickie wedding planned for May.
“These two love each other so much, are so happy about becoming parents and are fortunate enough to have really supportive families on both sides. They’ll figure it all out,” the friend told the magazine.
UPDATE: (15 april 08): It must have been a Joe Simpson creepy publicity stunt...Pete says it ain't so:
"There is a witch hunt for people to be pregnant whenever they get engaged in Hollywood," he wrote. "This is all news to me. I can't wait for the story about how I'm really in a gay relationship and this is all just a cover. ... I mean really, this is crazy. ... I mean we're engaged, that's true, and happy about it." Asked again if he was denying reports that Simpson is pregnant, Wentz, 28, replied, "Yeah."
