Pimple lotion spokeswhore Jessica Simpson and controversy go together like, well, like Cheetos and Red Bull. This week Romo's lil wuman went to Kuwait to imitate a singer and "entertain" the troops with some ass jiggling as part of a 3-hour concert.
But after all that fuel to fly her half way around the world on a private plane, and all the money spent to drag her make up and hair people there, it turns out she'll spend only enough time with the guys to get a few good pictures.
The concert, broadcast live on "Operation MySpace", also features the Pussycat Dolls, Disturbed, Filter and DJ Z-Tripand.
MySpace co-founder Chris DeWolfe says, "We're incredibly proud to host this one of a kind concert. Unlike past variety shows or concerts of this nature, 'Operation MySpace' will connect people, content, and culture a world apart through the live webcast of the show and interaction on the 'Operation MySpace' profile."
According to a source close to the Simpson camp, a private plane carrying Simpson and her entourage — which included daddy and manager Joe Simpson, hairstylist Ken Paves, and her personal assistant and a stylist — left L.A. and was due in Kuwait the evening of March 9. Total cost for the plane was approximately $150,000.
Other expenses include her stylist and makeup artist (who both charge approximately $6,000 per day), and the hairdresser whose charges $10,000 per day, according to the Simpson source.
The source defended the costs saying, “This isn’t a charity show. The people around Jessica aren’t donating their time or cutting their rates as if this was Jess’s charity Operation Smile. Someone is picking up the tab, and it’s not going to be Jessica.” (Hinting that it would be MySpace doing the check writing.)
You can expect to see tons of pics of Chestica and the troops to hit the gossip rags next week. Papa Joe took his own camera and you just know he'll be shopping those pictures to all the celebrity weeklies.
Oh wait, maybe THAT'S the reason for the trip? It certainly isn't because she's a best selling performing artist...
