Actress Dawn Wells who played sweet and innocent Mary Ann on the old 'Gilligan's Island' TV show was busted last October after she was caught with weed in her car. The 69-year-old Hollywood veteran was driving home from her surprise Birthday party when she was pulled over by Idaho cops after she swerved across the center lanes of the highway. They found four half-smoked joints. Dawn explained that it musta been the hitchhikers she picked up had left them. Classic!
So she's got her really cute mug shot plastered all over the net, and later plead guilty to one count of reckless driving. Dawn was sentenced to 6 months probation, five days in jail and a $410.50.
But even though she was nabbed for the reckless driving charge, prosecutors dropped all the other misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.
UPDATE: Well's lawyer says a third party came forward and claimed full responsibility for the marijuana. We're told the third party was in possession of Dawn's car that day and had left the joints behind. Her lawyer claims the reckless driving charge was not the result of alcohol, but Dawn fumbling around for the heater control. Dawn got a five-day jail sentence but it was suspended. She received the standard fine/informal probation for the offense.
