Anna Nicole Smith’s son died from an accidental drug overdose, a Bahamas jury has ruled.
The jury deliberated for less than two hours before recommending no criminal charges in the death of 20-year-old Daniel Smith.
Daniel died in September, 2006 after travelling to the Bahamas to meet his new baby sister.
His mother, Anna Nicole, died in early 2007 also from an accidental drug overdose. She was 39.
Cops said they had no evidence of foul play and that autopsies on Daniel revealed he died from a combination of drugs, including antidepressants.
Neil McCabe, lawyer for Anna Nicole's mother, Virgie Arthur, said she was disappointed with the ruling as she did not believe Daniel’s death was accidental. Arthur has previously alleged Howard K. Stern, Anna’s boyfriend and lawyer, were involved in both deaths.
"We don't think it makes any sense," McCabe said. "The boy was not a drug user, the judge said so. Why would he all of a sudden take a massive dose of methadone?"
