Eva Mendes is in the news today now that Calvin Klein has announced she'll be the face of their new ad campaign for 2008. And because THAT news broke, her rep came out and confirmed the "Ghost Rider" star has been in rehab battling a substance abuse problem for the past several weeks.
"Eva has been working hard for the past year and made a positive decision to take some much-needed time off to pro-actively attend to some personal issues that, while not critical, she felt deserved some outside professional support," a representative for Mendes told People magazine. "Out of respect for Eva's privacy, we do not wish to discuss further details."
Eva is at the famous Cirque Lodge, near Sundance, Utah where Lindsay Lohan and other stars have been treated.
The fee for the Calvin Klein fragrance deal was not disclosed but it's believed to be around from $3 million to 5 million with three-year deals.
CK President Tom Murray says Eva is worth it: "Eva exudes an effortless and unpretentious sensuality, which is perfectly in line with the Calvin Klein brand DNA."
