Jay-Z to Headline Glastonbury Festival

Rap superstar Jay-Z will headline this summer Glastonbury Festival in the UK, it’s been announced.

The event’s organiser, Michael Eavis, said he wanted to "break with tradition this time and put on something totally different" by having the rapper on the line up.

He adds he hopes Jay-Z will attract a younger audience to the event.

Michelle Williams Issues Statement on Ledger's Death

Michelle Williams has issued a statement on the death of her ex-fiancé Heath Ledger, saying: "My heart is broken."

Williams, who has a two-year-old daughter - Matilda Rose - from her relationship with the actor, urged in her short statement: "Please respect our need to grieve privately."

Ledger and Williams met on the set of their ‘Brokeback Mountain’ movie, in which they played a husband and wife.

George Clooney's UN Role Made Official

George Clooney has officially been appointed as a United Nations peace envoy at a New York ceremony.

Clooney, who flew into the city following a trip to the Darfur region of Sudan, will promote the UN’s peacekeeping missions around the world.

The 46-year-old actor was accompanied to the ceremony by his parents.

The Beatles get Beamed Across the Universe

They’ve conquered the world, now they’re making the mark on space. The Beatles’ song 'Across the Universe' will be the first ever song to be beamed directly into space, Nasa has announced.

The song will be transmitted into space next week, which marks both the 40th anniversary of the track’s release and 50 years of Nasa.

The track will be aimed at the North Star, Polaris, 431 light-years from Earth.

Lynne Spears has decided that she is going to take her celebrity daughter Britney out of Los Angeles as soon as she's released from the UCLA Medical Center, according to published reports.

"Lynne is extremely concerned for her daughter and would like to take Britney back home to Louisiana and get her out of Hollywood," Britney's lawyer Michael Flanagan told the New York Post's PageSix.com.
