Dr. Phil Whats-His-Name, the TV shrink, says he visited Britney Spears in her hospital room at Cedars-Sinai Med Center for "about an hour" on Saturday. But Britney never invited the celebrity therapist to visit and reportedly refused to talk to him when he showed up unannounced.
Britney, who was admitted to the hospital on Thursday night after refusing to hand over her two sons to ex-husband Kevin Federline, allegedly walked out of the room when Dr. Phil entered.
The troubled singer is said to have come back later and allowed him to question her for 15 minutes - not an hour as claimed by the doctor who also said in an interview later that he had "walked" her to a waiting car. That didn't happen either. WTF, Dr. Phil?
"She was released moments before my arrival and was packing when I entered the room," he had stated. "We visited for about an hour before I walked with her to her car. I am very concerned for her."
Spears' parents Lynne and Jamie had agreed to be a part of Dr. Phil's TV show on Monday, which will focus on their daughter's recent troubles.
Asked how he had come to be involved in the saga, he said, "Thursday night, the phone rang, it was Lynne, clearly she was very upset. Any parent would be. I was first contacted by her family a year ago and had maintained a running dialogue for the last year or so."
"My meeting with Britney and some family members this morning in her room at Cedars leaves me convinced more than ever that she is in dire need of both medical and psychological intervention," Dr. Phil told interviewers.
