Tragic news today as Aussie actor Heath Ledger was found dead this afternoon in Soho, according to the New York City police. At 3:30 pm, a masseuse arrived at an apartment for an appointment with Mr. Ledger, the police said. The masseuse was let in to the home by a housekeeper, who then knocked on the door of the actor’s bedroom. When no one answered, the housekeeper and the masseuse went in and found him unconscious.
They called 911 immediately. Police said they did not suspect foul play and also said they found pills near body. He was dead at the scene.
The actor co-starred in “Brokeback Mountain” in 2005 with Jake Gyllenhall and recently completed "The Dark Knight" playing the Joker, the villain that Jack Nicholson made famous in "Batman."
Ledger was 28. He leaves a baby daughter, Matilda, who he had with Michele Williams. The couple never married and split up last year.
