Here's a voting result you can't argue with: Welsh actress Catherine Zeta-Jones has topped a list of the most beautiful women who ever lived. Catherine, 38, was the No. 1 choice in a poll conducted by Nephria Cosmetics and voted for by 8,000 women worldwide - stealing the crown from a host of much younger beauties because of her "style and grace".
Interesting poll actually, since those polled were allowed to vote for their all-time favorites - living or dead.
1960s actress Brigitte Bardot claimed second place, followed by Breakfast At Tiffany's star Audrey Hepburn at number three.
Today's hottest celebrities found it hard to compete with the classical beauties of Hollywood, with Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor beating Kate Beckinsale, 34, in 11th place, Liz Hurley, 42 (13th) and Gisele Bundchen, 27, who was in 7th place. Princess Diana came in a lowly 41st place, just after the oldest still-living celebrity, golden-age star Lauren Bacall, 83.
Angelina Jolie failed to make the top 50 as did Jennifer Aniston.
Charlotte Newbert, of poll organisers Nephria Cosmetics, says of the most beautiful woman, "Catherine Zeta-Jones is an ideal winner. She oozes style and grace and her natural beauty just shines through."
