Britney Spears' new shrink had a surprise for the Toxic singer - last night he had Britney escorted by cops and taken to the UCLA Medical Center for psychiatric evaluation.
Us magazine reports that the hospital trip was in fact a “carefully orchestrated intervention” and was not the result of a suicide attempt or any other dangerous act on Britney’s part. A source also says that Spears hasn’t slept since Saturday.
Law enforcement sources tell TMZ an L.A. County Superior Court judge had signed a "5150," meaning Britney must be put on a 3-day psychiatric hold at the mental ward.
There is a "good possibility" that it will be extended to 14 days.
TMZ also learned there have been several other attempts to get Britney on a 5150. Her lawyers, Anne Kiley and Tara Scott, secured a new psychiatrist late last week -- he's the one who triggered the 5150 last night.
The singer's mother and father are also involved and have been working closely with the LAPD for weeks to get her back in for psychiatric care. Apparently, the judge is now makes the decisions for Britney.
